Choosing a gate operator starts with the type of gate you have or want. The two most common are sliding and swing gates.
Sliding gates
A sliding gate moves sideways along a fence line. It needs a clear run beside the opening about as long as the gate is wide. Sliding gates work well where there is limited room in front of the gate or where the driveway slopes. In Minnesota, snow and ice buildup near the track and wheels need to be kept in mind, so keeping the path clear matters.
Swing gates
A swing gate opens like a door, and it needs room for the gate to swing through its arc. Swing gates can look more traditional on a home driveway. They need to clear snow in winter, and the ground in front of the gate should be level enough for it to swing.
Operators we work with
We service and install LiftMaster and Linear gate operators. A LiftMaster slide operator is shown on our gate openers page.
Add access control
Operators can be paired with UniFi Access hubs and an intercom used as a keypad, so you can control who comes and goes. You can pair it with UniFi Protect cameras to see every entry.
Safety
Gate operators should have safety sensors and warning signs, because gates are heavy. We make sure they are set up correctly.
